There is no more effective way of accumulating energy from irregular sources like solar, wind and water than hydrogen storage. It is the opinion of German scientists.

Ambitious plans for a complete restructuring of the German energy sector include obtaining 30% of electricity from alternative fossil sources by 2020 and 80% – by 2050. This project requires a completely new approach to the methods of storing huge amounts of energy derived from highly irregular sources, the performance of which depends on unstable factors such as weather.

Representatives of Siemens believe that such technology exists – it is the electrolysis plant construction, which will be allocated out of the water hydrogen for storage and distribution. Further, hydrogen can be used in conventional gas turbine generators or as fuel for cars. Such a hydrogen buffer helps to smooth out irregular supply of power and provide enough electricity consumption peaks.

Hydrogen production is not the most efficient way to accumulate power, because in the process about 70% of electricity produced. Moreover, industrial electrolysis requires a rather flat power level for efficient production of hydrogen. Therefore, Siemens proposed a completely new approach to hydrogen production, using proton-exchange membranes, such as those used in fuel cells. This technology enables efficient production of hydrogen from non-regular sources of energy in a wide range of incoming power.

One of its divisions – Belenos – plans to begin developing environmentally friendly vehicles that will only run on hydrogen and oxygen.

On the one hand, these intentions may seem surprising, but the company Swatch has experience in working with electric vehicles. In 1997, together with Daimler-Benz AG which later became DaimlerChrysler AG, designers created a double Swatch Compact Car Smart.

Designers took into account the errors of Belenos’s previous attempts, and intend to create not just efficient cars but eco-friendly vehicles. Company representatives said they had already drawn up a plan and they had a ready prototype with a unique fuel cell. Advanced technology developed by Belenos uses liquid oxygen and hydrogen for efficient combustion.

President of Swatch, Nick Hayek, confirmed this information and added in the development of the car a completely new technology would be used. It will reduce the cost of the car significantly.

Opel Ampera Won the Electric Cars Rally

Opel Ampera gets awards one after another. Mazda Refuses to Develop Electric Cars

Masahiro Moro, CEO of Mazda announced that they will not develop electric cars because these vehicles are too expensive. According to his words the development is costly as well as the cars themselves.

He suggests that 60% of sales of electric cars which will occur in developing countries are not able to create the necessary infrastructure. It should also be mentioned there were tries to ban the entry into the city on regular cars in January in Florence. Delta Electronics New Plant in Taiwan

Delta Electronics is going to open a new factory and research center called Taoyuan Plant 3.in Taiwan This plant will be built to produce the equipment for electric power systems, industrial automation and intelligent solutions for “green” buildings.

The company estimates that its work will help to conserve electricity by more than 168 thousand U.S. dollars per year and reduce water consumption by 75%.

Chairman of the company emphasized Delta Electronics continues to invest in research and development and construction of new plants for at least 6% of their total income than demonstrates its unwavering commitment to the environment.
