Is All-Electric VW Bugster A New Mini Cooper Couple?
By kenny on January 13, 2012 in New e cars

A new model of E-Bugster from VW amazed all the visitors of the well-know Detroit Show. The first features that attracted attention were the style, which now blends a low roof line, shallow windows, a flat windshield and a close coupled hardtop that creates a sporty look.
Many started comparing E-Bugster with Mini Cooper Couple, but that would be wrong, as there are absolutely different modifications. The power of this electric model is provided by a battery pack (lithium-ion), plus a 114 horsepower motor (85 kilowatt) driving front wheels.
The battery pack weights about 695 pounds and is mounted below the trunk’s floor under rear bench. There are some innovations in the new E-Bugster’s interior, like energy consumption gauge that has replaced instrumental panel. Today it shows the energy that is used during the vehicle’s acceleration, and the energy that is returned after breaking.
Other design innovations include LED daytime lights, a new Volkswagen styling that is echoed by rear bumper fascia reflectors. Volkswagen E-Bugster is a quality combination of electric drive, a ‘bug’ (in the USA – Beetle) and ‘ster’, which stands for Speedster.
